Manual Handling is defined as ‘’transporting or supporting of a load by one or more employees and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving a load, which by reason of its characteristics or of unfavourable ergonomic conditions involves risks, particularly of back injury, to employee’’
This course provides participants with the necessary skill and knowledge to handle safely in the workplace to reduce the risk of workplace injury associated with Manual Handling. This course will inform participants of statistics relating to Manual, the anatomy of the human body, ergonomics, preventative measures and correct lifting technique.
The aim of this manual handling training course is to teach attendees about the guidelines of the Safety Health and Welfare Act, Manual Handling of loads regulations (General Applications) 2007 which covers the anatomy, the spinal column, related spinal injuries, risk assessment, correct manual handling techniques and the importance of good posture and fitness levels.
Our In Person courses are delivered at your premises or other suitable venue.
Our online courses are delivered via self directed online learning on our dedicated platform. We have three different options for students.
Theory Only- Short answer questions only at the end, following successful completion a Theory Only will be issued.
Video Upload- Following successful completion of the theory aspect of the course students will then be invited to upload a video completing the practical assessment. This will then be graded by a fully qualified QQI Manual Handling Instructor, once successful a full Manual Handling Certificate will be issued.
Live Zoom Assessment- Following successful completion of the theory aspect of the course students will then be invited to book a live zoom session to complete the practical assessment. A fully qualified QQI Manual Handling Instructor will carry out the assessment. Once successful a full Manual Handling Certificate will be issued.
Learners will have 6 weeks to complete all aspects of the course, this can be extended on request.
On successful completion of the course a Manual Handling certificate issued by Responder Training will be sent to the student.
Participants on the Theory Only course will receive a certificate that states Manual Handling Theory.
All certificates will be sent digitally.
Certificates will be valid for 3 years from date of completion.
This course is delivered through english. All participants should have fluent english.
As this course is fully online you will need access to a laptop/computer/smartphone/tablet with internet connection.
There’s no limit to the amount of people who can attend our online course. Our training delivery model allows us to role out our training in large volumes quickly and efficiently.
Manual Handling training should be carried out by anyone who performs a manual handling task in the workplace.
